We’re more than a groomer. The Paw Spa provides better care for your best friend in a fun, welcoming, and luxurious environment.
The Paw Spa opened in New Braunfels, TX in January 2013 as a small, locally-owned business. Our kennel-free dog salon is staffed by patient and caring professionals who love to spoil and pamper your furry friend. We strive to deliver a welcoming experience for pups - and their humans - in a safe environment. Your pup is encouraged to socialize, destress, and relax while they receive The Paw Spa treatment they deserve!
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENTOwner
Owner
John opened The Paw Spa in January 2013 following his departure as a local pet store manager. Since his very first job as a bather at a local vet clinic, he’s made it his life’s work to provide a grooming experience that is less stressful and more fun for humans and their pups.
John has served on the Board of Directors for the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area since 2014, as well as the Animal Advisory Board for the City of New Braunfels since 2016.
John, along with his 5 dogs, bearded dragon, crested gecko, red-footed tortoises, panther chameleon, and 200-gallon saltwater fish tank, reside happily in our charming German town. While John continues to grow The Paw Spa to its full potential, he hopes to one day start his own animal rescue with a focus on reptiles and exotics.

Alyssa has had a passion for animals since she was a child. She spent many years raising goats in FFA and even bred and exhibited several goats in breeding stock events. She worked as a stable hand for 7 years before finding her passion in dog grooming when she took over grooming her family dog, a senior Miniature Poodle named Cosmo.
She got her start as a bather at PetSmart for 6 months before going through PetSmart Academy. From there, she spent 2 years learning and absorbing as much as she could before moving to a privately owned salon, where she continued her grooming education and honed her skills for 3 years. Alyssa is now a proud and happy member of The Paw Spa family, specializing in Large Terrier trims, Doodles, Poodles, and sighthounds.
Alyssa has two dogs with two more on the way! Zoey is her heart dog, a 10-year-old Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix. Trivia is her first Show and Sporting dog, a 5-year-old Afghan Hound. Alyssa enjoys spending time with her dogs at Conformation and Lure Coursing events. She will be adding another Afghan Hound and a Borzoi to her crazy family very soon! Alyssa's main goal in her career is to see happy dogs greet her when coming to see her!

Mia began working at The Paw Spa in 2020. She was originally the bather but began grooming at the end of 2021. Mia has always been completely infatuated with animals. She was pursuing a career in animal-based therapy and spent some time as a dog trainer before working at The Paw Spa. She found that working with animals allowed her to love almost any job that revolved around them.
At home, Mia has a German Shepherd named Ezekiel and a Toy Poodle named Dolly. You can often find her and her pups out on hikes, training, or just hanging out at a coffee shop. Mia’s goals for the future are to be able to help out as many animals as possible. Whether that means just being able to provide them with a safe and comfortable grooming experience, or showering your furry friends with extra love and affection. Mia understands the value of positive interactions during a grooming session and wants to make The Paw Spa feel like a sanctuary to anyone that steps foot into it.

August has worked in the grooming world since 2020. He started with bathing dogs, and although he is learning how to groom, he takes great pride in his work as a bather and maintains the same level of quality and attention to detail on all of his bath dogs, from chihuahuas to huskies.
Besides being a dog lover, August is also a dad to his cats, Chichi, Sodapop, Cheeseburger, and Miss Vanjie. When he’s not taking care of his kitties or working at the shop, you can usually find August outdoors skateboarding, biking, swimming at the river, or using some sort of creative outlet like art, music, reading, or writing.

Hailey joined The Paw Spa family at the end of 2021. She is currently a bather but hopes to one day learn the skills required to become a groomer. Hailey previously worked as a kennel technician and veterinary assistant for a local veterinary practice. However, her aunt played a huge role in encouraging her to want to become a groomer as she was a groomer herself.
Hailey has quite a full house at her home which includes four cats named Ally, Ace, Diamond, and Josie, and her dog Evora. She is also looking to expand her family and hoping to adopt a standard poodle in 2023. Hailey absolutely adores her job at The Paw Spa and is excited to cater to every pup that comes in for their spa day!

Kimberley was a member of FFA for 4 years where she raised pigs. She worked at a doggy daycare for three years as a bather and later a groomer because of her mentor Julie. Julie helped Kimberley find her passion and a new way to help animals. Kimberley wants to push herself to become the best groomer possible while trying new techniques including creative grooming and Asian fusion styles.
Kimberley has a total of 7 pets: 6 dogs and 1 cat. Her dogs are Pranser, a 14-year-old American Eskimo, Dixie, a 14-year-old Lab Rottweiler mix, and 3 Shar Peis: Zeek, 5, Mello 3, Blueberry 2, and Fred 3.
Kimberly also has a 3-year-old daughter at home with her husband. In her free time, she loves to draw, do puzzles, work on her car or bike, and spend time with her family.
The Paw Spa is passionate about giving back to our community, including its animals! We are lucky enough to provide our services free of charge to this incredible organization. Support HSNBA in their mission to see every New Braunfels animal placed in a loving home.
